Exposure of samples of lyophilized bone to 4,000,000 rep Co/sup 60/ gamma radiation resulted in complete sterility of the bone and had no eifect on the morphological structures of the bone. The method is recommended for the treatment of bone tissues for use in transplantation during restorative surgery. (C.H.)
