BS>A pilot plant for production of impermeable graphite by impregnation with furfuryl alcohol and carbonization was constructed. It consisted of two furnaces: one for carbonization at 1000 deg C and another for graphitization at 3000 deg C. Details of the furnace design are given. Provision is made for fine control of the heating elements. illustrations of the plant and a table of the properties of untreated and treated graphite are included. (D.L.C.)
