Studies were made on features specific to the course of acute coronary insufficiency induced by pituitrin in rabbits exposed to total x irradiation (800 r), local irradiation of the heart region, and by the subcutaneous introduction of Po/sup 210/ (0.1 and 0.05 mC/kg). On the first day after roentgen irradiation and at the sickness peak (8th-15th day) and also on the 9th-15th day after Po/sup 210/ affection acute exacerbation of coronary insufficiency was revealed following the introduction of pituitrin, which in a number of cases, brought about death of the animals. In the terminal period of the sickness response to pituitrin was less marked. Local irradiation led to increased disorders of cardiac function on the 3rd-7th day after irradiation. Peculiar features of the course of coronary insufficiency caused by pituitrin may be brought about by mnetabolic disorders of the myocardium as well as by alterations in hemodynamics when the organism is exposed to irradiation.
