QUASI-ELASTIC p-$alpha$ COLLISIONS

The quasi-elastic p- alpha collision gives information about the clustering of the nucleons within the nucleus. Since the quasi-free p-p scattering was successful in clarifying the single-particle shell structure of nuclei, single-particle harmonic oscillator wave functions are used to calculate the angular correlation distribution of the quasi-elastic p- alpha collision. An interaction length is defined in terms of the probability of finding the alpha -particle cluster within the nucleus. (auth)
