INVESTIGATION OF PLASMA DECAY IN MAGNETIC FIELD BY THE RESONATOR METHOD (in Russian)

Journal Article · · Zh. Tekhn. Fiz.
OSTI ID:4101404
Experimental studies were made of plasma decay in 5 to 10 mm diameter cylindrical vessels filled with 0.05 to 0.5 mm Hg helium pressure, (10/sup 10/ to 10/sup 12/ cm/sup -3/ particle concentrations) in 6000 to 8000 gauss magnetic fields. A superhigh frequency resonance method was used for measuring particle concentrations during plasma decay. It was established theoretically that the coefficient of charged particle diffusion is inversely proportional to the square of the magnetic field intensity. Experimental data differ from the theoretical diffusion coefficient by an order of 2 to 3. (tr-auth)
