The development of low-noise transistor amplifiers with solid-state detectors is discussed. A charge-sensitive integrating preamplifier employing a cascade circuit which results in an increased signal-to-noise ratio is shown, The voltage feedback amplifier, the high-input impedance preamplifier, and the current feedback amplifier are discussed and compared.
