VOID FORMATION AND GRAIN BOUNDARY SLIDING IN ALUMINUM-MAGNESIUM SOLID SOLUTION ALLOYS
Technical Report
·
OSTI ID:4097743
Void formation and growth during creep were observed in aluminum-1.92% magnesium and aluminum-5.10% magnesium as a function of temperatare, stress, and time. The origin of voids is related to the development of an irregular (serrated) grain boundary and to grain boundary sliding. Grain boundary sliding is shown to result largely from crystal slip crossing the grain boundary. (auth)
