ANGULAR DISTRIBUTION OF /cap alpha/-PARTICLES PRODUCED IN THE REACTION F$sup 19$(p,/cap alpha/)O$sup 1$$sup 6$

A telescope consisting of three proportional counters was employed to measure the angular distributions of alpha particles from the F/sup 19/(p, alpha )O/sup 16/ reaction in which the O/sup 16/ >s nucleus is produced in the ground state. The measurements were carried for angles in the range from 20 to 160 deg and for 11 values of the bombarding proton energies lying between 5.1 and 6.5 Mev. All the experimental angular distributions were found to be very anisotropic. The results obtained are discussed from the viewpoint of the reaction mechanism. (auth)
