I-V characteristic of a small Josephson junction

A method is derived for calculating the I-V characteristic of a short Josephson junction. An exact equation for the time-averaged voltage across the junction and the direct component of the Josephson current are found in operator form. The I-V characteristics is calculated to fourth-order in the time constant of the junction. (AIP)
