Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4095260
Orchiectomized rats were fed a diet containing irradiated beef for 15 weeks. The diet was supplemented with 0, 0.69, 1.37, or 2.06% methionine and the rats received injections of 0, 0.06, 0.3, or 1.5 mu g of estrogen 3 times a week. Blood samples were obtained from all rats periodically for the determination of prothrombin times. Data are presented on the effects of diet, methionine, and estrogen on the incidence of hemorrhagic disease, prothrombin time, and growth rate. The beef was irradiated with 5.58 or 2.79 megarad radiation. (C.H.)
