A METHOD FOR $sup 90$Sr DETERMINATION USING $sup 85$Sr LABELLED CARRIER

A method for the determination of Sr/sup 90/ using Sr/sup 85/-labeled strontium-carrier solution was developed. The Sr/sup 85/ gamma activity enables a direct determination of the strontium-carrier recovery, thus obviating the need for chemical isolation of strontium. This activity does not interfere with the assay Sr/sup 90/ which is carried out, as usual, by beta counting of the separated Y/sup 90/ fraction. The over-all standard deviation was 3 to 6%. The method was applied to the analysis of two local soils, and good results were obtained. (M.C.G.)
