THE RUBIDIUM-STRONTIUM METHOD (in German)
A review is presented on the Rb/Sr method for time measurement in geology. The discussion begins with the basis for the method and continues to the half life of Rb/sup 87/, isotopic abundance in normal strontium and the strontium isotope method, quantitative determination of rubidium and strontium in minerals, suitable minerals, and reliability and precision of the method. It is stated that the Rb/Sr method is at least equal in reliability to the U/Pb and K/ Ar methods, and is being used more and more for dating. (119 references.) (T.R.H.)
