INSTRUMENTATION FOR MEASURING FREEZING POINTS OF URANIUM HEXAFLUORIDE- HYDROGEN FLUORIDE SAMPLES

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4088413
Instrumentation to facilitate the semiautomatic measurement of the freezing points of samples of binary mixtures was developed and applied to the problem of determining the composition of uranium hexafluoride -- hydrogen fluoride mixtures. Use of the instrumentation reduced the time required for analysis of uranium hexafluoride -- hydrogen fluoride mixtures by a factor of five. The components used were commercially available or were alterations to commercially available devices. Variations of the described instrumentation could be applied to the general problem of measuring the percentage of soluble contaminants in a compound. (auth)
