LABORATORY-SCALE CASTING FURNACE FOR HIGH-MELTING-POINT METALS

Development and design of a laboratory furnace are described. The furnace incorporates a consumable electrode and is equipped with a water-cooled copper ladle. Applications and performance of the furnace are discussed, and data are included on casting of copper, titanium, zircorium, hafnium, niobium, molybdenum, tantalum, tungsten, iron, and chromium, and iron-uranium alloys.
