ANALYTICAL METHOD FOR THE ABSORPTIOMETRIC DETERMINATION OF BORON IN URANYL NITRATE LIQUOR

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4086400

After destruction of nitrate with formic acid, boron is separated from uranium by distillation as methyl borate. Any residual nitrate in the evaporated distillate is removed by treatment with anlline sulphate, and boron determined absorptiometrically as rosocyanin. The range of the method is 0.15--1.5 micrograms boron and is applicable to an aliquot of sample containing 3 g uranium. At the 0.4 ppm level (calculated on uranium), the standard deviation is 0.02 ppm. (auth)
