HYDROMAGNETIC WAVES OF FINITE AMPLITUDE IN A PLASMA WITH ISOTROPIC AND NONISOTROPIC PRESSURE PERPENDICULAR TO A MAGNETIC FIELD

Journal Article · · Revs. Modern Phys.
An investigation was made of the structure of hydromagnetic shock waves with reference to a stationary plane wave propagating in the absence of collisions perpendicular to a magnetic field. A previous investigation was made in which the plasma pressure was assumed to be zero. The discussion here is concerned with the assumption that the gas pressure perpendicular to the magnetic field is isotropic in one case and nonisotropic in another. (B.O.G.)
