Energy Transfer Between Hydrocarbons and Metal Carbonyls. II. Report on Radiochemical Investigation of Metal Carbonyls (in German)

The effects of Co60 gamma radiation on mixtures of cyclohexahe with iron pentacarbonyl or nickel tetracarbonyl were investigated. The G values of the most impontant reaction products, cyclohexene, dicyclohexyl, carbon monoxide, iron monocarbonyl, iron dodecacarbonyl, and elementary nickel, were determined in relation to their dependence on mixture content and the absorbed radiation energy. The results obtained showed that the energy primarily absorbed by the cyclohexane is in pant transferred from the metal carbonyl. A kinetic consideration yielded insight into the mechanism of the reaction.
