The use of radioisotopes as tracers and radiation sources in the textile industry is illustrated with several examples. Tracers can be used to determine the dyeing mechanism, to follow the formation of synthetic fibers, to control color purity, and in drawing fibers. Radiation can be used to eliminate static electricity, to measure thicknesses of fibers, sheets, and tapes, and to modify the properties of the textile. (J.S.R.)
