INVESTIGATION OF NON-METALLIC RARE-EARTH INCLUSIONS IN IRON AND STEEL (in Russian)

Metallographic and x-ray structural methods were used for determining the effect of rare earth inclusion in steel. The results showed that inclusion of 0.5% Ce formed CeO/sub 2/. In the presence of sulfur, cerium and lanthanum sulfides were formed. (tr-auth)
