Preliminary results obtained in a study of the reproductive capacity and the further fertility of young male and female rats irradiated at the age of 8 or 17 days are reported. Female rats irradiated 8 days after birth have a much lower fertility as adults than rats irradiated at the age of 17 days. This difference in radiosensitivity is much less evident in the case of male rats. AET has an evident protective effect on the fertility of both male and female rats, regardless of the age at the moment of irradiation and the dose used (50, 150, 300, or 500 r). (J.S.R.)
