A thermoluminescent dosimeter is described, which is able to measure fast neutron dose. The fast neutrons are first moderated in a paraffin ball, which surrounds a detecting device. This device consists of a layer of CaF/sub 2/ : Mn enveloped by a LiF-film. On neutron incidence, by reason of the (n, alpha ) reaction, the CaF/sub 2/-layer is exposed to the alpha radiation. The integral thermoluminescent yield appearing thereby, on a supplementary heating of the layer, is a measure of the absorbed dose during the irradiation. The practical detecting limit is at a dose of 150 mrem fast neutrons, as was found by comparing with a calibrated neutron dosimeter. (auth)
