State of the art in IEMP and SGEMP calculations

The present state of calculational techniques for IEMP and SGEMP phenomena is reviewed, with emphasis on the physical, mathematical, and geometrical approximations made in various approaches. Some speculations are made on the ultimate capabilities of computer calculations, and the need for analytical calculations, especially simple methods for making estimates, is stressed. Finally, the possibly fruitful competition and complementation between digital (computer) and analogue (electrical simulation) techniques are discussed. (auth)
