PAPER CHROMATOGRAPHY OF I$sup 131$-LABELED OLEIC ACID AND I$sup 131$- LABELED TRIOLEIN

A paper chromatography method was developed using cupric hydroxide- impregnated paper for the analysis of I/sup 131/-labeled triolein and I/sup 131/- labeled oleic acid. A chloroform-benzene (2: 1) system satisfactorily resolves the radioiodinated compounds and also detects the presence of free iodide. The paper is prepared by immersion first in 5% cupric sulfate solution, and then, after drying, in a 5% sodium hydroxide solution, followed by washing. (P.C.H.)
