Radiation-induced excitation of autoionizing states of heliumlike ions

Radiation-induced excitation of autoionizing atomic states was examined on the basis of Feshbach's formalism and perturbation theory for the electron- electron interaction. The relationships obtained were applied to the study of resonance photoionization of heliumlike ions in their ground state. Fano parameters were represented in an explicit form using hypergeometric functions. Numerical calculations were carried out for transitions to states with n$sub 1$, n$sub 2$ < or = 4. (AIP)
