Two very different aspects of the relations of the electrical industry with the applications of radioisotopes are discussed briefly. The first topic discussed is the utilization of radioisotopes in the electrical and electronic industries, such as radiation treatment of polythene to be used as cables, fabrication of semiconductors, and quality control of electrical components. The contribution of the electrical and electronic industries to the development of the utilization of radioisotopes is the second aspect discussed. In this area, the design and construction of detection apparatus, only slightly modified from standard devices, and the construction of special devices for industrial uses, e.g., thickness gages and density gages, are cited. The difficulties in the design and construction of special measurement apparatus are indicated. (J.S.R.)
