ACTIVATION ANALYSIS WITH VAN DE GRAAFF NEUTRON SOURCES INCLUDING TABULATION OF THERMAL-NEUTRON ACTIVATION CHARACTERISTICS OF THE ISOTOPES

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4078022
A discussion is presented of the basic principles of thermal neutron activation analysis and the neutron sources involved. The production of neutrons from a Van de Graaff accelerator using the Be/sup 9/(d,n) reaction and a moderator is considered. Tables are presented which list pertinent nuclear data for each element, for use in activation analysis. A summary table is also presented which compares the order of magnitude of the detectability of all the elements by activation analysis. (D.L.C.)
