THE POWER REACTORS. THE GRAPHITE-GAS COMBINATION (in German)

Journal Article · · Atompraxis (West Germany) Incorporated in Kerntechnik
OSTI ID:4076196
The future prospects of graphite-gas reactors and recent development and new techniques are discussed. The developments and techniques considered are construction of reactor vessel with prestressed concrete, tubular fuel elements cooled inside and out, fuel cladding with Mg-Zr alloys, and incorporation of the blower and heat exchanger of the primary circuit within the reactor vessel. The utilization of some of these improvements has reduced the investment/kwe ratio by a factor of 3 between EDF-1 and EDF-3. (tr-auth)
