Journal Article · · Energia Nucl. (Madrid)
OSTI ID:4075814

BS>After a brief review of the nature and origin of the fission products from thermal fission of U/sup 235/, the methods used in the separation and purification of the long-lived radioisotopes are described. The radioisotopes discussed are Cs/sup 137/, Sr/sup 90/, Ce/sup 144/, Pm/sup 147, Ru/sup 106/, and Kr/sup 85 /. The production of the short-lived fission products Y/sup 90/, Tc/sup 99/, Mo/sup 99/, I/su p 131/, I/sup 132/, Te/sup 132/, I/sup 133/, Xe/sup 133/, Xe/sup 135/, La/sup 140/, Ba/s up 140/, and Pr/sup 144/ is also described. Studies on the adaptation of the usual methods for the preparation of fission radioisotopes to the operation of the JEN-1 reactor are indicated. (J.S.R.)
