Photofission of Ne/sup 22/ was studied with a Wilson chamber placed in a constant magnetic field of 6700 gauss. The mixture of neon isotopes consisting of 89% Ne/sup 22/, 10% Ne/sup 20/, and 1% Ne/sup 21/ was irradiated with a 90-Mev gamma beam. The recorded relative yield of various photofission types and the energy thresholds of respective alpha reactions in Ne/sup 22/ and Ne/sup 20/ are tabulated. The ph f yield for Ne/sup 22/ is 20 plus or minus 3 mb/Q. Proton energy distributions in ( gamma ,p) and ( gamma ,pn) reactions and angular distributions of photoprotons of over 0.5 Mev from the above reactions are plotted. Proton emissions from Ne/sup 22/ are followed by neutron emission in about 40% of the events, whereas the relative yield of ( gamma ,pn) reaction for Ne/sup 20/ is considerably less even though energy thresholds of these reactions are the same for Ne/sup 2/s and Ne/sup 20/. Energy distributions of protons in ( gamma ,p) and ( gamma ,pn) reactions on Ne/sup 22/ are close. A considerable number of high-energy protons (< 10 Mev) was observed in both cases. The relatively small yield of ( gamma , alpha p) reactions on Ne/sup 22/ compared with Ne/sup 20/ is discussed. (R.V.J.)
