Spin states in odd-odd deformed nuclei are determined by unpaired neutron and proton moments ( OMEGA ). Moreover, two different projections K = OMEGA + OMEGA /sub 2/ are possible on the nuclear symmetry axis. In even-even deformed nuclei, as in oddodd, two quasiparticle levels formed by two unpaired nucleons are in doublet states. The doublet state degenerates in the generalized and superfluid models. It was recently found that in odd-odd nuclei the state with parallel neutron and proton spins, and in even-even nuclei with antiparallel unevaporated nucleon spins, are as a rule the low energy
