Study continued on the mechanism of radiation-induced synthesis in selected two-component systems containing toluene plus a halogenated compound. Heated irradiation devices were designed, constructed, and operated for the gas- phase toluence halogenation experiments. Samples containing toluence and CF/sub 4/, SiF/sub 4/, SF/sub 6/, or CCl/sub 4/ were prepared and irradiated. Chromatography and infrared spectroscopy of the products were investigated. (W.L.H.)
