A r-f external electric deflector was used to extract a beam of 75-Mev carbon ions from the accelerating chamber of a 150-cm cyclotron. When the constant voltage at the external planes was about 20 kv, the extraction coefficient was approximately 40%. The deflection system is described. (auth)
