Synthesis of Terphenyls Labelled with Carbon-14, Tritium and Deuterium; SYNTHESE VON KOHLENSTOFF-14, TRITIUM- UND DEUTERIUM-MARKIERTEN TERPHENYLEN

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4070509
Methods for the preparation of C/sup 14/- and tritium-labeled terphenyls are indicated. The conversion of 2-, 3- and 4phenylcyclohexanone or -hexenone with tritium-substituted phenylmagnesium bromide is described as being promising with regard to simplicity of synthesis method and end products to yield for the preparation of terphenyls tritiumlabeled at the terminal ring. In the same way, the reaction of 2-, 3- and 4-bromocyclohexanone or -hexanone with phenylmagnesium bromide should lead to the desired result. For the preparation of terphenyls tritium-labeled at the central ring, consideration is given to similar conversions of labeled cyclohexaulone of bromocyclohexadione with phenylmagnesium bromide or phenyllithium. For the preparation of terphenyls labeled with C/sup 14/ at the terminal and central rings, consideration is given to similar conversions of phenylcyclohexanone with phenyllithium or phenylmagnesium bromide and to the reaction of the Grignard compounds of dibromobenzene with cyclohexanone.
