Studies of the /sup 90/Sr content of soils and plants begun in 1960 and 1961 were continued. Pasture land showed a marked increase of /sup 90/Sr content in 1982. Crop soils showed also an increase of average levels, but no significance could be established. The contamination of plant life increased as a result of the resumption of nuclear weapon tests in the fall of 1961. Plants with large specific surface area, such as grass or other fodder, were especially affected. In plants with smaller area or growing above ground the level remained about the same. The relationship between soil and plant contamination observed in previous years was less apparent in 1962. This can be attributed to the strong effect of surface contamination with /sup 90/Sr that occurred during 1962. (OTS)
