EXCITATION FUNCTION OF THE N$sup 14$(p,n)O$sup 14$ TOTAL CROSS SECTION FROM THRESHOLD TO 12 Mev

Journal Article · · Nuclear Physics (Netherlands) Divided into Nucl. Phys. A and Nucl. Phys. B

The excitation function of the total N/aup 14/(p,n)O/sup 14/ cross section tion from threshold to 12 Mev was obtained by measuring the activation of O/sup 14/. The threshold was determined to be 6.345 plus or minus 0.015 Mev. The excitation function rises smoothly from threshold up to about 8 Mev and then stays nearly constant up to 12 Mev, with indication of resonances at 7.5, 7.7, nance is relatively more pronounced than the others and has GAMMA /sub lab/ = 600 plus or minus 100 kev. Corresponding resonances in C/sup 12/ + He/sup 3/ and N/sup 14/ + p due to the same states in O/sup 15/ are evident. Using the same experimental arrangement the excitation function of the total C/sup 12/(He/ sup 3/,n)O/sup 14/ cross section from threshold to 3.5 Mev was also measured. (auth)
