HEAT OF SUBLIMATION AND VAPOUR PRESSURE OF STRONTIUM

Journal Article · · Physica
By mass spectrometric analysis of the vapor effusing from a Knudsen cell of variable temperature the heat of sublimation of Sr was determined as 34.9 plus or minus 0.15 kcal/gram atom between 500 and 850 deg C, corresponding with a value of 36.1 plus or minus 0.15 kcal/gram atom at 298 deg K. The experimental value of the vapor pressure of Sr is given by log p(mm) = -7,628/T + 7.498 in the same temperature region. Only Sr atoms were found in the vapor, the concentrations of polyatomic species thus being lower than the detection limit of 1 : 10/sup 6/. (auth)
