VAPOR PRESSURE AND HEAT OF SUBLIMATION OF BARIUM FLUORIDE (thesis)

Technical Report ·
DOI:https://doi.org/10.2172/4068541· OSTI ID:4068541

The vapor pressure of barium fluoride was measured in the temperature range 1261 to 1548 deg K by the torsioneffusion method. The vapor pressure of barium fluoride in atmospheres is given by the expression {log P= -STA(78.70/ 45.76) plus or minus 1.421 x (10/sup 4//T) + 6.94 plus or minus 0.23) where the quoted errors are the standard deviation from the leastsquares fit. Extrapolation of the data yields a heat of sublimation at 298 deg K of 90.29 plus or minus 2 kcal/mole by the thirdlaw method and 87.06 plus or minus 1.45 kcal/mole by the second-law method. (auth)
