Variations in the radioactive content of milk have been attributed to seasonal iniluences, changes in feeding practices, varying contamination rates, and other factors. Three model cases are presented which illustrate three combinations of basic conditions which influence the transport of radioactive materials from fall-out into cow's milk. lt is assumed that the cows are fed on hay or grass which has been exposed to radioactive contamination over a period of time, that the contamination of milk is essentially proportional to the contamination of the diet, and that contamination of the diet is essentially proportional to the product of the rate of contamination and the time of exposure. Graphic presentations of the three model cases illustrate twelve successive conditions possible for each model case. (C.H)
