THE IMPLOSION PHASE OF A THETA-PINCH

A study has been made of the implosion phase of a large theta-pinch (CARIDDI), in the presence of an initial magnetic field, but without preionization. High-speed photographic techniques and magnetic probes have been emp1oyed and the results are compared with the behavior predicted on the basis of different models of the implosion. (auth)
