A removable restrictor for controlling coolant flow in a vertical channel of a gas-cooled power reactor, is designed which will remain in position without locking devices. The restrictor comprises a fixed location member in the channel and a removable gag member adapted to be forced against the location member by the combination of downward resultant forces. The location and gag members are provided with cooperating seats arranged to form a cavity between the members, and the gag member has a passage connecting the cavity to the coolant channel to equalize the pressures in the cavity and in the downstream channel.
