THE 27-DAY RECURRENT VARIATIONS IN THE COSMIC-RAY INTENSITY
Technical Report
·
OSTI ID:4057076
An analysis was made of the 27-day recurrent variations in cosmic-ray intensity from 1954 to 1959 using data obtained from nucleonic detectors at Mount Washington and Durham, N. H. The relation between the planetary magnetic index, K/ sub p/, and the nucleonic intensity variations was studied. Periodicities ranging from 24 to 31 days found during this interval indicate that the intensity variations are not necessarily associated with the central meridian passage of active solar regions. No consistent change was found in the length of ths period with respect to the solar activity cycle. (auth)
