SEARCH FOR $omega$ $Yields$ e$sup +$ + e$sup -$ DECAY (in Russian)

Probabilities of the omega decay scheme omega yields e/sup +/ + e/ sup -/ were analyzed previously, and it was shown that the ratio R = w( omega yields e/sup +/ + e/sup -/)/w( omega yields lambda /sup +/ + lambda /sup -/ + pi /sup 0/) i s of the order approximates 10/sup -2/ A reaction pi /sup -/ + p yields n + X/sup 0/(X/sup 0/ yields e/sup +/ + e/sup -/) (wh ere X/sup 0/ is an arbitrary neutral particle decaying into X/sup 0/ yields e/sup +/ + e/sup -/) was studied in order to find the decay omega yields e/sup +/ + e/sup -/. The reaction was studied using 1.55- and 2.8-Bev pi /sup -/ meson pulses and a xenon-propane bubble chamber. Four verified double-prong star events and three not completely proven events were found from 20,000 stereopictures at 1.55 Bev/c, and 40,000 at 2.8 Bev/c. The results of the analysis are in good agreement with theoretical results and preliminary data. (R.V.J.)
