The effect of anharmonism on the intensity of Mossbauer lines in the presence of local oscillations is considered. Even the taking into account of a weak anharmonism qualitatively changes the time dependence of the correlation function and results in the products of Bessel functions vanishing from the expression for the intensity. The corresponding intensity difference is found to be distributed around the Mossbauer line in a narrow band with a width approximates GAMMA /sub kappa / where GAMMA /sub kappa / is the level width of the local oscillation. The effect of anharmonism on the Debye -Waller factor is discussed. As a resuit of taking into account anharmonism, the dependence of the Mossbauer line intensity on temperature and wave vector is found to change and, in particular, an anisotropy of the Mossbauer effect in cubic crystals appears. Analogous effects may occur in solid solutions in the harmonic approximation. The effect of anharmonism on the single-phonon spectrum is considered. (auth)
