PION-LAMBDA RESONANCE (Y$sub 1$*)

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. Letters
The pi - LAMBDA resonance (Y/sub 1/*) is studied in the sequence of reactions K/sup -/ + p yields Y/sub 1/*/sup plus or minus / + pi plus or minus , followed by Y/sub 1/* plus or minu++ pi plus or minus + 130 Mev. The K/sup -/ momentum is varied from Y/sub 1/* threshold at 405 Mev/c to 850 Mev/c. The mas of Y/sub 1/* is determined to be 1385 Mev, with a half width near 20 Mev. It cannot be determined whether the Y/sub 1/* spin is (J)1/2 or 3/2. (T.F.H.)
