REDUCTION OF URANIUM TETRAFLUORIDE WITH MAGNESIUM-CALCIUM MIXTURE

Small-scale reduction is recommended in order to estimate the yield of U from UF/sub 4/. It was found that the yield increases at higher furnace temperatures and with higher Ca to Mg ratios. Conditions for obtaining massive U above 90% in small production are given. The small-scale production of UF/sub 4/ can be carried out with good yield. (P.C.H.)
