QUANTITATIVE DETERMINATION OF ZIRCONIUM IN ALLOYS AND ORES USING p- IODOAMYGDALIC ACID

A new gravimetric method for determining Zr using piodoamygdalic acid was developed. The method permits the determination of macro and microquantities of Zr in zirdon, eudialyte, steel, zirconium bronze, and an alloy based on Cr- Mo- Al with satisractory results. (OTS) A simple and rapid procedure is described for the determination of micro amourts of vanadium in uranium. Uranium is removed by extraction with tri-n-butyl phosphate and the interfering elements are extracted as oxinates at pH 9.5. Vanadium oxinate is extracted with chloroform at pH 4.0 and determined spectrophotometrically at 550 m mu . The method, with some modifications, was applied for the determination of vanadium in crude sodium and magnesium diuranates. (auth)
