DISCRIMINATION OF NEUTRONS FROM GAMMA RAYS IN THE SCINTILLATION COUNTER. Report No. 15

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4039033
Research related to the optimum conditions for the discrimination of neutrons from gamma rays is reported. Several types of photomultipliers were used and the degree of discrimination was found to depend on the type of photomultiplier. A clue for the mechanism of the scintillation in anthracene is also suggested, that is, there may be a little difference between the spectra of fast and slow components of the light of scintillation, both of which are distributed around 4,000 A.
