LOCAL QUANTUM EFFICIENCY IN COUNTER TUBES. II. EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS

Journal Article · · J. At. Energy Soc. Japan

Local quantum efficiencies in Geiger counter tubes are measured by means of a thin sheet of gamma-rays passed through a heavy metal gamma-ray slit. The experimental results are compared with computed results. The local efficiency greatly depends upon the angle between the incident direction of the gamma-rays and the inner surface of the counter. The maximum value of the local efficiencies depends upon the inner diameter of the counter. (auth)
