Journal Article · · Neue Technik See NT, Neue Tech.
OSTI ID:4037149
After a comprehensive historical survey of the efforts of research in the field of food irradiation, the present position is described. Radioconservation of easily perishable foods (meat, poultry, fish), not easily perishable foods containing more than 20% water (e.g. potatoes, fruit, fruitjuice) and not easily perishable dry foods (less than 20% water) such as maize, wheat, rice is considered. In special cases irradiated food could be cleared for human consumption. The danger of creating induced radioactivity in irradiated foods can be excluded with energies up to 4 Mev. (auth)
