Instead of extruding fuel elements or using sintered powders, the inventors put powdered fuel in a cylindrical can and submit it to ultrasonic vibrations. It is claimed that a density of 5.5 can be achieved with UC/sub 2/ powder with an ultrasonic frequency of 35 kc. (E UBATOM)
